This is a pretty neat mountain town.  There’s a mishmash of Buddhist temples, Hindu shrines, and Muslim mosques.  And the people are just as varied.

One night of religious fever: We followed a somber, drum banging, procession to see the relic of Buddha’s tooth, partook in the colorful Maha Sivarathri (the festive Hindu celebration marking the anniversary of Shiva and Parvari getting hitched), and completed our trifecta with a killer meal at a Muslim restaurant.  Our bases are covered.

We get to dine with monkeys every morning and there’s beautiful bird song everywhere along with lots of giggling as I  tear up from the HOT curry they put on EVERYTHING.  It’s really flavorful and hard to resist.
